dis-assem-blies were a series of events we program as part of Knowledge Is a Does, a socially concerned theory reading group. As artists/writers/friends we develop disparate events to explore the questions generated from our readings within new settings. "Where can different desires meet without agreement? How do the politics of subjectivity — in terms of affect, spatialization, and/or distribution — materialize in or have bearing on our work? Can we locate and foreground our implication in structures of power?" The series of events take place in various venues in Maastricht, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, and Ghent: a squat, a gay bar, a thrift store, a gymnasium, a private apartment, a record shop, a performance hall, a cinema, and an artist-run space.
