We were asked by our friend Jasmine Pasquill to take part in a small drawing exhibition at a new gallery in Portland Oregon called Igloo. At the time we were really intrigued by appatizer names at chain restaurants, particularly TGI Friday’s Wicked Wings and Chile’s Awesome Blossom (being vegetarians we could only consume the latter). The names seemed almost Native American like Red cloud or Wild Dove and it was funny to experience that connection within the walls of something so unfortunately American like Friday’s or Chiles. We decided to honor these names coming from a similar place of bewilderment. We created a typeface inspired by Navajo patterns and created a reflective treatment to express the feeling of expansion in each name. Both drawings were 3ft. x 3ft. and tackily executed with Sharpies on dry-erase board.
