For volume 7 of Rvng Intl.’s Nrds series we had a special request to use a horribly low quality image of Bettie Page. Our gut told us this was a bad idea but at the same time it seemed to add to the record’s general dissolution of time and place. The entire Rvng of the Nrds record series consists of edits of unlicensed material and this isn’t the first time we carried the concept over to the art using unlicensed images, but whereas on previous records we found imagery that had no existing artistic value or was obscured beyond recognition leaving us feeling no guilt, this was an image of an American icon and a woman who had to fight in her old age to finally receive royalties for her life’s work. To make matters worse, Ms. Page passed away the week that this record was released. We’re really sorry.
